It was a childhood dream to live in the countryside, I have always felt a longing to be in nature. A lot of my childhood was spent playing outside, in the fields and along the river banks, on the edge of the town where I grew up. I’m lucky to have spent the last 32 years living in a small semi rural hamlet with access to endless footpaths and bridle ways. I walk a lot and I’ve always known that it makes me feel better.
The joy I experience from watching the seasons unfold, never diminishes and seems to increase year on year, as I discover new things and experience interactions with nature which light me up and feel magical. I have come to know that there is something quite magical going on and the energy we get from being in nature does have the power to heal and restore us. My passion is guiding others to experience some of the amazing benefits accessible to us and open the door to a new awareness of the natural world which can be cultivated into a wonderfully supporting practice.
I am a fully qualified Forest Bathing Guide, and a certified mindfulness and meditation teacher with 25 years experience as a Holistic Practitioner. I started with Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Reiki. This led to me becoming a Reiki master and teacher, which opened the door to meditation. Finding meditation was a major turning point in my life, and from there I focused towards emotional and mental wellbeing therapies like the Bach Flowers and other vibrational essences, and EFT in 2016. I trained with the British School of Meditation in 2017 and The Devon School of Mindfulness in 2019. I then trained with The Forest Bathing Institute in 2021. I had noticed during the pandemic while leading outdoor mindfulness classes and walks, how effective meditation in nature was and it just felt the perfect fit for me. Forest Bathing or Shinrin Yoku has taken me onto another journey which is unravelling beautifully but a lot more is to still be discovered.
Forest Bathing is the simplest of all the formulas I’ve known over the years for de-stressing and after a little guiding it’s yours to develop for free. I think it is the perfect antidote to stress in these troubled times. We go into nature, it grounds us, takes us out of our worrying minds and all the beautiful things we experience help to lift us back up again and fill us with joy.
